Two Crested Pigeona wait near a bird feeder. // Crested Pigeon - Columbidae: Ocyphaps lophotes. Length to 34cm, wingspan to 50cm, weight to NNg. Also known incorrectly as Topknot Pigeon. Endemic to Australia, Crested Pigeons were once a characteristic bird of arid and semi-arid regions of Australia, but now have moved coastwards and are common in the suburbs of some of the larger cities. Birds have specially modified primary feathers that cause a whistling sound when taking off. Common. //Eric Lindgren//
