Australian King Parrot eating multigrain bread, Bunya Mts, Australia. //   Australian King Parrot - Psittacidae: Alisterus scapularis. Length to 43cm, wingspan to XXcm , weight to 215g . Found in tropical and temperate rain forests, woodland and suburban areas  on the east coast of Australia from Cooktown in Queensland, to Otway Range in Victoria. Male is bright red., female mainly green. Immature birds have similar plumage to the female - green head and neck, remainder duller than male. Solitary or in small groups.
